Recently Terminated Federal Heights Sergeant Left Meth in his Locker
Federal Heights Sergeant Chad Gallegos had multiple internal complaints against him including failing to turn in evidence
Federal Heights Sergeant Chad Gallegos was terminated for cause on June 22 for repeated inconsistencies on his time-sheet for hours worked — five within a week — with discrepancies up to 51 minutes from his actual worked time.
But Gallegos had multiple internal complaints besides his time-sheets including a post-termination complaint about his handling of evidence.
The internal complaint states that two Colorado license plates and a handicapped placard were found in his desk as it was being cleaned out, and a “small baggie containing 0.41 grams of methamphetamine was located” in his equipment locker along with another license plate and several more handicap placards. The summary of the complaint states that it is unknown when these items were seized, but they were never booked in at the police department and that he would have violated six internal policies due to it.
Other complaints cited his speeding.
One from February states that Gallegos responded to assist another officer by driving at 61 mph in a 35 mph zone, with the summary calling his behavior “negligent.” Only a month later, another complaint states Gallegos drove 53 mph in a 35 mph zone while holding his cell phone in his hand and “appearing to not be observing potential traffic ahead.”
Gallegos was also arrested for harassment through striking shoving or kicking in 2009 while a Colorado State Trooper. The case was dismissed by the Jefferson County District Attorney.
He was hired by Federal Heights PD in December of 2021 and was a Colorado State Trooper since 1997.
