Former Greeley Officer Pleads Guilty to DUI
Jonathan Tollefson was arrested for drinking and driving with a BAC of 0.23
Former Greeley Police Officer Jonathan Tollefson pleaded guilty to driving under the influence 0.20 and above on Wednesday. All other charges were dismissed by the Larimer County District Attorney’s Office including obstructing a peace officer, lane usage violation, and driving under the influence per se.
Tollefson was arrested around 1 a.m. in Loveland on March 16. According to his arrest affidavit, Loveland Police officers pulled Tollefson over for weaving over lanes multiple times. Responding officers said he had bloodshot eyes and the car smelled like alcohol. Tollefson refused to exit the vehicle when asked and was removed by officers and handcuffed. He blew a 0.230 in a breath test.
Tollefson resigned while under investigation on April 1 “due to personal reasons” according to his resignation letter.
Tollefson has previously been with Johnstown Police Department from 1997 to 2001, and Windsor Police Department from 2001 to 2008. At Windsor, he won an Officer of the Year award from the Windsor Optimist Club in 2008 according to the Greeley Tribune. The award was for his work in traffic enforcement, specifically DUIs.
His sentencing hearing is set for Sept. 23.
