Former Weld County Detention Deputy Receives Indefinite Sentence for Unlawful Sexual Conduct with Inmate

Former Weld County Sheriff's Detention Deputy Jacob Golden was convicted for unlawful sexual conduct through penetration while on-duty on Tuesday. Seven other related unlawful sexual contact charges were dismissed.

Golden was arrested July 15 with Weld County Sheriff's Office describing at the time that the victim was a 27-year-old female inmate at the Weld County Jail and that the unlawful sexual conduct happened between July 12 and 14 in 2025 while he was on duty.

Golden was terminated for cause from Weld County Sheriff’s Office soon after on July 29 and was issued a credibility report on Aug. 13. He was decertified Dec. 5 for knowingly making an untruthful statement concerning a material fact or knowingly omitting a material fact during an internal affairs investigation on June 12, 2025.

Golden received an indeterminate sentence with the Colorado Department of Corrections.
