Deputy Gabriel Mendoza-Dominguez’s child was younger than 15

Adams County Sheriff’s Deputy Gabriel Mendoza-Dominguez was arrested last month for one count of sexual assault of a child under 15 from a position of trust, one count of aggravated incest against their own child, one count of sexual assault of a child, and two counts of an “aggravated sex offense.”

According to Mendoza-Dominguez’s arrest affidavit, his daughter told reporting officers that he appeared drunk on the night of the alleged offense — Nov. 27, 2025 — “wobbling” up the stairs of her step-mother’s house toward her room. She continued that Mendoza-Dominguez initially said goodnight, but then put his tongue into her mouth, which she described as feeling “slimy” and “weird.”

According to the affidavit, Mendoza-Dominguez then allegedly unzipped his pants, exposed himself and attempted to put his penis in her mouth while he touched her vagina over her clothing. He then left the room, she said.

The child said in the affidavit this incident was the first, and expressed to reporting officers that she was concerned Mendoza-Dominguez might do something similar to the stepmother.

A few days later, according to the affidavit, Mendoza-Dominguez dropped the daughter off with her mother — his ex-wife — as per their custody agreement. The child told her mother what happened, and the mother called the Thornton Police Department. The Westminster Police Department took over the case as the alleged assault happened in its jurisdiction.

ACSO Public Information Officer Shea Haney referred Blue Surveillance’s questions on Mendoza-Dominguez’s employment status to their records department who did not respond by publishing time. According to Adams County online public records though, Mendoza-Dominguez has not been terminated.

Mendoza-Dominguez posted $25,000 in bail March 25, and his next court date is June 22.
