Week of November 3, 2025
Welcome to my weekly sum-up. Every Monday I send out a short summary of the last week’s officers that have landed on Colorado’s Peace Officer Standards and Training public database of law enforcement misconduct and actions. They are not necessarily all actions that have happened in the last week, but those that have been added, and consist of any other context on the other I could find.

This week we have four officers, all added for being subject of a criminal charge.

Matthew Schlauger (CO-7225-9475) (Records)

  • Previously wrote about here.
  • Arrested by the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Department for domestic violence related charges on November 5. This included Third-Degree Assault — a decertifying charge — and criminal tampering
  • Employed by Aurora Police Department at time of arrest
  • Criminal charges unrelated to duty
  • According to Aurora Police Department, Schlauger is now on “restricted duty” in a non-public facing role, and the department opened an internal investigation into the incident
  • The criminal investigation is being handled by ACSO.
  • His next court date is December 1.
  • No previous actions
  • Unknown if rehired officer

  • Employed as an officer with Englewood Police Department at the time. Terminated shortly after the incident.
  • Asked for the driver’s license, but the driver could not understand English well.
  • Lied to police dispatch saying that the driver was fighting him after he requested the driver to turn off the engine and leave the vehicle.
  • Moments later tased the driver and put them into a choke-hold, which is against state law and Englewood Police Department policies
  • No previous actions
  • Previously employed by Colorado State Patrol
