Week of February 2, 2026: Haili Shimko, Shane Sloan, Louis Guida

Week of February 2, 2026: Haili Shimko, Shane Sloan, Louis Guida
Welcome to my weekly sum-up. Every Monday I send out a short summary of the last week’s officers that have landed on Colorado’s Peace Officer Standards and Training public database of law enforcement misconduct and actions. They are not necessarily all actions that have happened in the last week, but those that have been added, and consist of any other context I could find.

  • Charges include: one count of assault in the third degree through knowingly or recklessly causing injury; one count of child abuse through negligence without injury
  • According to FSPD, the police report for the alleged crimes would be heavily to almost completely redacted due to Colorado’s Riley’s Law — C.R.S. 24-72-304(4.5) — which requires all names and any identifying information of an underage victim or witness be redacted from records released to the public
  • Arrested by FSPD on Nov. 25, 2025 for obstructing a peace officer while employed as a deputy with Adams County Sheriff’s Office
  • Previously arrested for domestic-violence related charges in December 2010, though both counts were dismissed by the Weld County District Attorney at the time

Haili Shimko (CO-4450-7622)

  • Terminated for cause as officer with Erie Police Department on Feb. 3
  • According to EPD, an internal investigation was opened based on a resident’s complaint to the department about a comment on social media by Shimko. According to a screenshot posted by right-wing account LibsofTikTok on X, Shimko allegedly commented on social media — seemingly referencing ICE — that "they wear armor so headshots would work better.” EPD commented directly to the X post about the matter stating her comments were against internal policy, and the comment was reported to the FBI as well due to its nature.
