Denver Police Officer Ngan Kim Nguyen was charged with harassment in Aurora on January 1 for allegedly spitting at someone during an argument while off-duty.

According to her offense report from Aurora Police Department, Nguyen was returning an air compressor to a friend living a few blocks away from her when the friend’s girlfriend and Nguyen began arguing. Both the friend and girlfriend claim Nguyen spit at the girlfriend during the argument before the friend told Nguyen to leave.

The girlfriend told Aurora officers that Nguyen and her had met multiple times in the past, and that Nguyen smelled of alcohol.

Nguyen denies intentionally spitting at anyone, stating “spit may have come out while yelling and that she ‘felt spit like kind of just on my braces,’” according to the report. It continues that when Aurora officers called Nguyen, she initially questioned whether officers had any proof of the incident, and said she had never met the girlfriend before.

According to Nguyen’s disposition report, she had to relinquish any firearms and had a mandatory protection order issued against her on behalf of the girlfriend. Nguyen’s next court date is on April 9 at Aurora Municipal Court.
