Aurora Police Officer Matthew Schlauger Arrested for Domestic Violence
Aurora police officer Matthew Schlauger was arrested by the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Department for domestic violence related charges on Wednesday, according to court documents.
These included assault in the third degree — a decertifying charge — and criminal tampering, legally defined as when someone “tampers with property of another with intent to cause injury, inconvenience, or annoyance to that person or to another or if he knowingly makes an unauthorized connection with property of a utility.”
The Aurora Police Department told Blue Surveillance that Schlauger is now on “restricted duty” in a non-public facing role, and the department opened an internal investigation into the incident. The criminal investigation is being handled by ACSO.
Schlauger’s next court date is set for December 1.
